September 22nd - Driving around Tuscany

Breakfast at our castle and then driving through the hills to Montepulciano (cute little town the couple I bought my purse from in Firenze recommended). We enjoyed walking around and had a nice lunch outdoors (bruscetta, pizza & lasagna), then to the top of town for amazing views of the countryside. We drove to Pienza, where we shopped in the outdoor market. We bought some postcards to send home, yummy cheese and I bought a pair of skinny, low rise jeans that should work well for maternity! What a pretty drive we had back to Sienna, pausing along the way for scenic views. Then on to the train station and off to Rome! We got to know the Firenze train station rather well, as it was a hub for the regional trains and EuroRail! We didn't get to our hotel till 11:30 at night, and I was hungry, so we found a restaurant open late enough to serve us salad and dessert!

Good-byes to our Tuscan castle!

We hope to come back someday!
